Age 93
While watching Mass, Lola passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Born September 10, 1931, Lola was a daughter of Paul and Anna (Née Horvatich) Fabek.
Lola was a member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, CFU Lodge #18, KSKJ Lodge #29 and an honorary member of the Croatian Cultural Club.
Lola liked to laugh and have fun with her family and friends. She was a sun goddess, avid Blackhawks fan, enjoyed tending to her roses, listening to Croatian and Slovenian music and may have enjoyed hitting the slots.
Lola’s energy and spirit will always be around as she has touched many hearts. She will be truly missed.
Survivors include her loving children, Sally Boettcher and Paul Boettcher; granddaughter, Adeline Boettcher, Ph.D. (Tim Egner); special nephew and godson Tom (Robin) Fabek; great-nephew David Fabek, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Anna Fabek, siblings Victoria (Clarence) Wedic, Stephanie (Martin) Hotuyec, Ann (Andrew) Shepich, Catherine (Lou) Pounovich, Michael (Loretta) Fabek, Charles (Rita) Fabek, Thomas (Marie) Fabek, Robert Fabek and numerous close friends.
Per Lola’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Joliet, IL 60435. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m.
Lola will be laid to rest in the columbarium at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Joliet.
