Age 89, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at Eden Vista Rock Run, with his family by his side.
Born in Joliet, Henry was a son of Albert and Anna (Née Hucul) Frieh.
He was a graduate of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School and Plainfield High School (Class of 1953).
On January 12, 1963, Hank married Joyce A. Neighbors.
Hank worked in Quality Control for Caterpillar Inc. and retired in 1996 with over 40 years of dedicated service.
He obtained his private pilot license in 1974 and logged up many flights until 2014.
As a competitive shooter, he attained the rank of expert sharpshooter, and completed the Civilian Marksmanship Program and also competed in the annual John C. Garand Match for several years which is held at Camp Perry in Ohio. He was a member of St. Ambrose & St. Anne Catholic Church, the ISRA, NRA, Civil Air Patrol, Marine Corps League and a lifelong member of Dale AC and Ingalls Park AC.
Hank was a proud United States Marine and a wonderful dad and grandpa.
Survivors include his two sons, Brian D. Frieh (Sabrina) and Albert E. Frieh (Sharon); six grandchildren, Kristyn, Michael (Brandon Hood), Joseph (Kelsey), James (Kaitlyn Stevens), Kenneth and John; great-grandchildren, Everett and Easton Catania and sister-in-law, Charlotte Frieh.
Hank was preceded in death by his wife of 51years, Joyce A. (Née Neighbors); parents, Albert and Anna Frieh; and brothers, Richard, Leonard (Louise), Charles, and Roger (Nancy) Frieh.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435.
Funeral services will follow on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Hank will be laid to rest beside his wife in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL following military honors and committal services.
