Age of 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, at The Pearl of Joliet.
Born June 22, 1953, in Chicago and raised in Hyde Park, IL, Herb was a son of Samuel T. and Pearl R. (Née Weller) Zite.
Herb attended South Shore Elementary School, Richards High School, Oak Lawn (Class of 1971) and attended Columbia College for 2 years.
He married Jacqueline L. Kocjan on November 15, 2014, in Messiah Lutheran Church, Joliet and they lived in the Crest Hill area.
As a computer programmer and specialist, Herb worked for the City of Chicago, SKK Security, International Harvester, JMI Computer and VanKampen. He enjoyed delving into the operations and security aspects of the technological world.
In his free time, Herb rebuilt computers, dabbled in photography, listened to good music, helped his neighbors with computer repair and watched the Chicago Cubs.
One of his favorite joys was attending the annual Fest for Beatles Fans with Jackie.
Herb had a strong faith in God. He loved his family and enjoyed when they gathered for holidays and birthday celebrations. He always found joy and happiness in life and will be truly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jackie Zite; bonus daughters, Terri (Quen) Dudeck and Stacy (Jim) Leaver; granddaughters, Cassidy Corzine and Maya Leaver; brother-in-law, Ed (Carol) Kocjan, numerous nieces and nephews, and good friends, Gary Michael Kline and Michael Cernak.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Pearl Zite, his brother, Lenny Michael Zite and mother-in-law, Lou Kocjan.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on February 27, 2025, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 40 Houbolt Road, Joliet, IL 60431. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Rev David Nygard, officiating.
