Marilyn C. (Née Tomac) Strle, age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2022, in the comfort of her home.
Born December 28, 1948 in Joliet, Marilyn was the daughter of August A. and Catherine M. (Née Plese) Tomac. Marilyn resided in the Joliet/Crest Hill area her entire life.
Marilyn served many individuals in the local community through public service positions and various industries like aviation, hospitality and healthcare to name a few. Marilyn joyfully retired from the workforce to pursue hobbies and interests such as walking/hiking, kayaking, photography, painting, drawing, traveling and playing music. Marilyn enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events. Many will remember Marilyn for her bright personality, kind and generous heart, zest for lifelong learning, her love of nature, appreciation of the fine arts, active lifestyle and passion for her family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her sweetheart and partner of 7 years, Tom
Demask; daughters, Shelly (Jeff) Maliska and Jennifer (Dwayne)
Marcum; grandchildren, Holly and Jeffrey Maliska II, Joelle
Marcum, Bethany (Jeremy) Darby and Alec Marcum, and loving
brother, August (Karen) Tomac. Marilyn is also survived by her pets
JD, Tigger, Tomster, Puff and Socks.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, August and Catherine
Tomac.
Marilyn’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring
staff of Lightways Hospice (Chrissy, Kathy, Georgette, Julie, Blanca)
and the many professionals that have worked with and cared for
Marilyn over the past few years. Special thanks to Millie with
Comfort Keepers for her loving care.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life event will be held on Saturday, July 16,
2022 at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black
Road, Joliet, IL 60435. Family will greet relatives and friends from
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by a Commerative tribute at 3:00 p.m.
Funeral services and arrangements have been made under the genuine care and direction of Kenneth A. Plese, in Joliet, IL 815-735-2125, in celebration of Marilyn’s fervent life.
