Sharon Kay (Née Nolan) Zbacnik
Age 71 of Marseilles, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 following a brief illness.
Born December 18, 1950 in Sparta, IL, Sharon was a daughter of Jarvis and Ona (Née Alms) Nolan. She was a graduate of Herscher High School and married Michael J. Zbacnik on June 6, 1970 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet.
She was a retired Activity Director after many years of dedicated service.
Sharon was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Seneca, IL. When her children were in grade school, she was an active member of the Parent Teacher’s Association at Richland Grade School and was always very involved in her children’s education.
In her free time, Sharon enjoyed dancing with her husband ; which they earned many awards for and pulling pranks on her siblings and family members.
She loved cake decorating, candy making, collecting ornaments, antiquing, gardening and preparing her home for the many holidays she opened to her family and friends. In recent years, Sharon devoted many hours to reading and singing songs on smule with her siblings.
Survivors include her spouse Michael J. “Mickey Zbacnik, children; Michelle (Tim) Miller, Heather (Rich Pursell) Zbacnik and Steven Zbacnik, grandchildren; Celeste (Robert IV) Battin, Alissa (Matt Graessle) Pena, David Pena, Sarah Pena and Zayvier Zbacnik, great-grandchildren; Jennifer, Robert V and Natalie Battin, siblings; Sue (late Basil) Lindsey, Norma (Melvin) Wike, Judy (Bill) Guthrie, Marilyn Nolan, Patricia (late Gerald) Scheidt, Phyllis (Tom) Sampson, Carol (Phil) Adams and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; Jarvis and Oma Nolan and brother; Phillip Nolan, infancy.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435. A Celebration of Life will begin at 6:15p.m.
Funeral services will follow on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. with prayers in the funeral home chapel, then processing to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Tom Cargo officiating.
